Paul Sidney, who was inducted into the Benedictine Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997, is arguably the best men's basketball player to ever compete at Benedictine.
Sidney not only owns the all-time career scoring record with 1,955 points, but he also owns the all-time career rebounding record with 1,162 rebounds from 1975-79. Sidney's name is also in the record books for owning the most field goals made in a career with 819. He was part of the 1977-78 team that owns the school record for most steals in a season (286).
Sidney's jersey is only one of two jersey's that have been retired at Benedictine. On Saturday, February 4, 2017, Benedictine welcomed Paul and his family back to campus for a jersey retirement ceremony.
