Zavala joined Benedictine before the start of the 2018-19 year and instantly led the program to unprecedented heights.

ZAVALA'S BENEDICTINE COACHING PROFILE
• Led the men's program to the first ever NACC Championship in 2018 and the first title overall since 1991
• Marcos Garcia won the championship in a record time, becoming the first male individual to win the race
• Emma Roberts won a second straight individual championship in 2018 and earned all-region honors on the women's side
• The women's team finished as the runner-up at the conference championships, the highest finish ever

ZAVALA'S COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Coached four NAIA All-Americans and eight national qualifiers at Robert Morris
• Coached eight individual conference champions and 43 all-conference runners at Robert Morris
• Introduced the men's track and field program at Robert Morris in 2014
• Coached an 8x Puerto Rico National Champion (5,000m, 10,000m, Half Marathon and Cross Country)
• Worked with the 2014
Puerto Rico National Athlete of the Year and Puerto Rico's top competitor at the 2015 Pan American Cross Country Cup

STUDENT-ATHLETE CAREER ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Inducted into the Robert Morris Hall of Fame in 2011
• Four-time all-conference runner and a three-time all-region award winner
• Qualified for one NAIA National Championship
• 2003 CCAC Freshman of the Year
