Men's Soccer 10/12/2010 9:30:19 PM Eagles Remain Undefeated at Home BOX SCORE LISLE, Ill. – The Benedictine men's soccer team remained undefeated at home after beating Concordia University-Chicago 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the Sports Complex. The Eagles trailed halfway through the first half when CUC's Mario Grana sent a shot over BenU keeper Jim Hanley's head to take the 1-0 lead. Giancarlo Chavez would answer right back just two minutes later, finding the back of the net off the keeper's hands and over his head to tie the game at halftime. Franco Merenda scored in the 69th minute to put the Eagles up 2-1, unassisted from 20 yards out. Frank Aguilera would score the final goal of the game in the 78th to give Benedictine the 3-1 win. The win moves the Eagles to 7-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Northern Athletics Conference action while Concordia-Chicago drops to 2-9-4 overall and 0-4-3 in conference play. Hanley had two saves in the game while Jesse Ortiz talied four shots and Chavez had three. The men's soccer team is back in action on Friday, October 15 when they travel to Maranatha Baptist Bible College for a 3:00 p.m. contest. Print Friendly Version
