RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Eagles overcame a 2-0 half time deficit to tie the game at two, but Lake Forest College scored in the 83
rd minute to defeat the Benedictine women's soccer team 3-2 on Wednesday night in non-conference action.
The Foresters (8-5-0) scored two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead going into halftime. The Foresters out-shot the Eagles (5-6-1) 9-2 in the half.
Melissa Swanson cut the Eagle deficit in half, scoring in the 61
st minute off a cross from Megan Johnson. Benedictine took 10 shots in the second half and found the back of the net in the 75
th minute off the foot of
Amanda Warner.
With less than seven minutes remaining in the game, Lake Forest's Lisa Sorensen secured the Forester victory with a shot past Eagle keeper,
Michelle Del Sarto.
Johnson had five shots in the game while Swanson tallied three. Del Sarto stopped eight of LFC's 11 shots on goal.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday night when they travel to Maranatha Baptist Bible College for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
