Eagles Fall to Aurora

LISLE, Ill. – Senior goalkeeper Jim Hanley tallied five saves but it wasn't enough as the Benedictine University men's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision to Aurora University on Thursday night.
In the first half, the Spartans (12-6-1, 10-1-0) tallied nine shots and had three goals from Nick Helmer, Matt Houghtaylen and Jim Kelly. The AU defense held the Eagles to zero shots on goal.
In the second half, Aurora came out firing, taking 12 shots and scored in the first three minutes of action with a goal from Bobby Gonnella. Helmer would score his second goal of the night in the 73rd minute while Jordan Fryer scored the final goal of the game win the 87th minute.
Benedictine had one shot on goal in the game from Erick Lopez.

Despite the loss, the Eagles (9-8-1, 5-5-1) secured a spot in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament for the first time since 2006. Benedictine goes into the tournament as the No. 6 seed and will take on the No. 1 seed, Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sunday afternoon.
