PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Sophomore forward
Ale Farias scored twice in the first half to help the Benedictine University women's soccer team defeat Lakeland College, 6-0, in Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Benedictine (2-2) had four goals in the first half, the first two from Faris within the first 13 minutes of action. Freshman
Nikki Jhanji had the third goal of the game, unassisted in the 36
th minute while junior
Danielle Savant capped off the first half scoring, unassisted in the 40
th minute.
The Eagles out-shot the Muskies (1-4) 24-6, taking 15 shots in the second half. Senior
Carly Madison kicked off the Benedictine offense in the 65
th minute, sending a shot past LC keeper, Ashley Sarbacker. The Eagles would score one more goal in the 78
th minute from freshman
Briana Grenke, assisted by Savant, to give the Eagles the 6-0 victory over Lakeland.
Both of the Benedictine keepers,
Michelle Del Sarto, and
Manpreet Kaur, had a save in the match while the Muskies keeper tallied six saves.
Melissa Swanson had six shots and one assist during the game while Farias and Megan Johnson took four shots each.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, September 15 when they take on Aurora University in their home opener at 7:00 p.m. The first 25 students in attendance will receive a free Benedictine athletics bracelet.
