Eagles Drop Nail Biter to Spartans

LISLE, Ill. – After allowing two first half goals, the Benedictine University women's soccer team regrouped and scored two goals of their own in the second half of a Northern Athletics Conference contest on Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles dropped fell 3-2 to Aurora University at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.
The win improves the Spartans to 4-2-0 on the year and drops the Eagles to 2-3-0 overall.
Eagle keeper Michelle Del Sarto had nine saves in the match while Nikki Jhanji had two shots on goal in the loss.
Aurora took an early lead in the 6th minute on a header from Christine Kwilosz that found the back of the net past Del Sarto. Less than two minutes later, Jordan Joyce put the Spartans up 2-0 on a cross from Molly Thayer that found Joyce for the goal.  
Jhanji cut the Spartan lead in half in the 46th minute, scoring on a free kick from 30 yards out, right over the AU keeper, Amanda Liss. 


The Spartans would take a two-goal lead in the 54th minute when Kaitlyn Crohan scored, unassisted to give AU a 3-1 advantage. Benedictine never gave up and scored in the 67th minute off the foot of Megan Johnson. The two teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the game, but it was Aurora who came out on top, 3-2.
Next up for the Eagles is a Northern Athletics Conference match against Edgewood College at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 18 at the Sports Complex.
