LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Eagles took seven shots in the second half but the effort fell short as the Benedictine University men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Lake Forest College on Wednesday night at Farwell Field.
The Eagles (4-3-1) gave up an early goal in the fifth minute when freshman Steven Johnson scored his first career goal to put the Foresters (3-3-0) up 1-0. Lake Forest went up 2-0 when Chris Thompson scored on a penalty kick.
Benedictine took seven shots in the second half, including three from sophomore
Cesar Martinez, but the Forester offense prevailed, scoring in the 48
th and 49
th minute off the feet of Mahir Mameledzija and Nelson Dorvlo to secure the LFC victory.
The Eagles keeper,
Jim Hanley, had four saves in the contest.
Men's soccer is back in action this weekend when they travel to Concordia University-Wisconsin for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
