Jhanji Tallies Hat Trick in Win Over Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Freshman Nikki Jhanji scored her first career hat trick on Wednesday night to lift the Eagles to an 8-0 win over Alverno College in Northern Athletics Conference action.
The win moved Benedictine to 3-5-1 overall and a 2-3-1 record in Northern Athletics Conference play while Alverno fell to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the NAC.
The Eagles had 21 shots in the first period and the Benedictine defense held Alverno to just one shot. Melissa Swanson led all players with eight shots, one of them connecting in the 57th minute off a cross from Rachel Wilson, who had seven shots of her own, three assists and scored in the 51st minute.
Nicole Esposito led off the scoring for Benedictine in the fourth minute with a pass from Wilson followed shortly by Jhanji's first goal of the game in the 6th minute.
The Eagles capped off first half scoring with a shot from Ashley Davey, unassisted to send BenU into the locker room up 3-0 at the half.
Jhanji led off the second half with a goal in the 46th minute unassisted followed by another just a minute later with an assist from Swanson.
Lindsay Prokaski scored the last goal for the Eagles in the 84th minute to secure the 8-0 victory.
The women's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday, October 5 when they host Concordia University-Chicago at 7:00 p.m. at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.
