MADISON, Wis. - Edgewood College took a 2-0 lead at halftime and the Benedictine University women's soccer team could not overcome the deficit as they dropped a 3-0 decision to EC on Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Conference action.
Edgewood (7-3-1, 4-1-1 NAC) dominated the ball in the first half, outshooting BenU (5-4-1, 4-2-0 NAC) 11-1 with two goals. Edgewood scored their first goal in teh 30th minute from Brianna Franken and then scored again just six minutes later on a shot across the field from Kristina Santaga.
Benedictine managed three shots in the second half but it was Edgewood who would strike again. Santaga scored her second goal of the game in the 57th minute when she found the back of the net on a shot that slipped through BenU keeper,
Michelle Del Sarto's hands to give EC the 3-0 victory.
Nikki Jhanji had two shots in the game while Del Sarto tallied four saves.
Women's soccer is back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Aurora University for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
