Sabres Defeat Eagles

BOX SCORE

FON DU LAC, Wis. - Despite holding Marian University to a scoreless second half, the Benedictine University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision on Saturday afternoon in Northern Athletics Conference action.

Marian (9-6, 7-2 NAC) got on the board early when Brittany Syms scored on a chip shot over the hands of Eagle keeper, Michelle Del Sarto, to put MU up 1-0. Briana Grenke tied the game just two minutes later when she rebounded a shot off the Marian keeper to tie the game at one-all.

In the 32nd minute, Syms would tally her second goal of the game to put the Sabres up 2-1. Benedictine would take two shots in the second half but could not find the back of the net as Marian went on to win, 2-1.

Grenke led the Eagles (6-7-1, 5-5-0 NAC) with two shots on goal while Del Sarto tallied six saves. Marian out-shot BenU 14-5.

Women's soccer is back in action on Wednesday night when they host non-conference opponent, Milikin University, at 7:00 p.m. at the Sports Complex.
