LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's soccer team used a 3-0 first half to defeat Rockford College, 5-0, on Wednesday night in Northern Athletics Conference action.
Alberto Mendez put BenU on the board in the 3rd minute followed less than three minutes later with a goal from
Mostafa Abdelrahman in the 6th minute on a cross from
Jesse Ortiz. Abdelrahman would score his second goal of the game in the 21st minute on a break away, once again assisted by Ortiz.
Ortiz picked up his third assist of the night in the second half after
Izzy Castro found the back of the net to put BenU up 4-0. In the 86th minute Sam Odele scored on a cross from
AJ Simpson to give the Eagles the 5-0 win.
Benedictine out-shot Rockford 22-4 in the game. Orland Esparza started the match in the net for BenU while Manny Martinez had two saves in the second half.
The Eagles will travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Saturday, Oct. 29 for the first round of the NAC Tournament.
