LISLE, Ill. - Despite overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the first half, the Benedictine University women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Concordia University-Wisconsin on Saturday night, 3-2, at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.
The Falcons took an early 1-0 lead after Kelly Sippel scored in the fourth minute. Concordia allowed the Eagles just one shot in the first half and took advantage of their nine-shot total when Lauren Straehler scored back-to-back goals in the 23rd and 33rd minutes to take a 3-0 lead at half time.
The Eagles' offense turned it around in the second half, out-shooting CUW 8-1.
Nikki Jhanji found the back of the net in the 69th minute to cut their deficit, 3-1. Jhanji scored again in the 87th minute to put BenU within one, on a cross from
Ale Farias. The effort fell short as Concordia-Wisconsin would go on to win, 3-2.
Jhanji led the Eagles with four shots while Straehler led CUW with five shots.
Michelle Del Sarto had five saves for BenU while Sam Anakr had four saves as the CUW keeper.
The women's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Wisconsin Lutheran for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
