LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team picked up their second Northern Athletics Conference win on Wednesday night, scoring two second half goals to top Alverno College 2-0.
Despite out-shooting the Inferno 17-1 in the first half, the Eagles (3-2-0, 1-1 NAC) could not score. Alverno's keeper,. Samantha Robinson, had 10 saves in the match, seven alone in the first half.
Nine minutes into the second half, BenU's
Alyssa Rubio found the back of the net on a cross from
Amanda Warner to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later,
Erika Wossner scored her first goal of the season, unassisted in the 56th minute.
Alverno would have four shots in the game but
Michelle Del Sarto and the Eagle defense held strong to shutout the Inferno 2-0.
Del Sarto had two saves in the game while
Meagan Johnson had eight shots, four shots on goal.
Women's soccer is back in action this weekend when they travel to Manchester College on Saturday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
