LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's soccer team sent its senior class out on a winning note, recording a 1-0 double overtime win over Marian on Saturday evening.
The teams battled through 90 very even minutes before moving to extra time. Benedictine created plenty of chances in the second overtime session, battering six shots at Marian. The sixth shot came with just :03 remaining and sent Benedictine home a winner.
Edgar Reyes netted his team leading fifth on a feed from
Tony Mendoza to end the match.
Zorohn Reed collected four saves in goal to earn his third shutout of the year. All three of Benedictine's wins have been shutouts. The Eagles held a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 10-5 margin in corner kicks. The win marked the first of the year in front of the home fans.
Benedictine (3-11, 3-5) will conclude the home portion of the 2012 schedule on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. against Aurora.
