Women's Soccer Season Ends in Defeat

LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team saw its first season under head coach Jason Burr come to a close with a hard luck 1-0 defeat to Concordia University-Chicago on Tuesday night at the Vilalge of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.

Both teams had several chances early in a back and forth affair. Concordia Chicago held a 6-4 advantage in shots during the first 45 minutes of action.

Benedictine produced three consecutive shots from Nikki Jhanji during the first five minutes of the second half but failed to score. Six straight attempts from the Cougars in the middle of the half put the Eagles on the defensive. The lone goal of the night scored in the 83rd minute when Haley Graner put an attempt into the upper 90 from 18 yards away.

Concordia held a 15-9 edge in shots for the match. Benedictine put three shots on goal in the defeat. Jhanji led the attack with four shots for the contest. Candace Rogers finished off her freshman season by saving five shots in goal.

Benedictine finished the season 5-11-2, 4-7-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
