Men's Basketball Loses Opener of Colorado Trip

LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team opened a two-game stint in Colorado by falling to unbeaten Augsburg 74-58 on Saturday evening.

Benedictine held a 36-35 edge at the half in an opening 20 minutes that featured four ties and nine lead changes. The Eagles hit seven threes in the frame and shot 50 percent from the field.

Less than six minutes into the second, Augsburg was able to stretch the lead to double digits. Benedictine did not score a single point until a Tim McGinty layup with 13:29 remaining, a 12-0 run to open the half. Augsburg went on to lead by as many as 18, shooting 63.6 percent from the field. Benedictine managed just five field goals and shot only 22.7 percent in the second half including 0-for-8 from three point range.

Jamison Montgomery scored a season high 16 points in the defeat. Michael Woolf also reached double figures with 11 points. Four players scored in double figures for Augsburg.

Benedictine (1-2) faces Colorado College to conclude the trip on Sunday afternoon.
