Women's Basketball Falls at Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team dropped a 65-39 decision at Wheaton College on Saturday night.

Benedictine led just twice early at 2-0 and 4-2 before falling behind. Wheaton went on a 12-0 run to open a double-digit advantage and never look back. The Eagles pulled within five points twice in the half but another late run put the host Thunder up 16 at the half 34-18.

Wheaton went on to lead by 20 early in the second half and extended the lead to 30 on two occasions. Benedictine could only pull within 18 twice.

Meghan Novak and Michelle Gaede paced Benedictine with 11 points apiece. The Eagles struggled from the field all day, shooting under 30 percent in the contest while being outrebounded by 15.

The loss stopped a four game win streak for Benedictine (4-6). The Eagles will host Elmhurst on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
