LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team played a rare Monday night contest, falling to North Park 75-57 in non-conference action at the Rice Center.
A quick start for North Park put the visitors up 20-9 at the 11:44 mark of the first half. Benedictine was playing catchup from that point onward. The visitors led by as many as 15 in the opening frame before Benedictine battled to within 40-31 at the half.
The second half was much of the same as North Park jumped ahead by 10 points at 50-40 with 15:20 left and Benedictine could never reach closer than 13 the rest of the way.
The starting lineup scored 70 of the 75 points for North Park (3-3) as the Vikings hovered around 50 percent shooting for the game.
Drake Danford was the lone Benedictine player to score in double figures, tallying 11 points off the bench. The lineup in the second half at points featured four freshmen.
Benedictine (2-5) has a short layoff before playing another conference opponent on Wednesday when Dominican visits at 7:00 p.m.
