Women's Hoops Win Streak Reaches Four

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team pulled within a game of the .500 mark with its fourth consecutive victory, rallying from down nine in the second half to take down Rockford on the road 77-67.

Rockford hit six threes in the first half and led by a 35-31 count at the break. The Regents came out strong to open the second half, surging to a nine-point lead at 42-33 following a three-point play with 16:13 left. Down by eight points with 14:57 to play, the Eagles came to life. Benedictine used a 23-5 to vault in front by double figures. Michelle Gaede hit a three to open the run while Vincenza Ranallo capped the run with a layup.

Two free throws tied the game a 64-64 with just under four minutes remaining as Rockford would not go away. Seven quick points allowed Benedictine to again gain control and Rockford could not pull closer than 67-65.

Benedictine converted 23 turnovers into 31 points while also holding a +13 edge on the glass. Gaede led all scorers with 22 points. Alexis Joseph added another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Joseph, a freshman, has posted three straight double-doubles and owns four on the season.

The Eagles (4-5, 3-1) will now break for finals before returning to the floor on Saturday, December 15 at Wheaton in a 7:00 p.m. affair.
