The Benedictine University women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 decision to College of Staten Island on Friday morning to open up the 2012 season.
Benedictine (0-1) gave up an early goal in the 9th minute from Demi-Jean Martorano. The Eagles did take five shots in the first half, including two from
Meagan Johnson.
The Eagles out-shot CSI 8-3 in the second half but could not find the back of the net as College of Staten Island went on to win 1-0.
Briana Grenke led BenU with three shots on goal while
Candace Rodgers had three saves in the net.
The Benedictine women's soccer team is back in action on Saturday morning when they play Polytechnic Institute of New York at 9:00 a.m.
