Box Score PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's soccer team posted its second consecutive conference road victory, blanking Lakeland 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Edgar Reyes continued his strong season by opening the scoring in the first half following a quick combination with
Bryin Venegas, cutting in from the right side and burying a blast from 15 yards out.
Arturo Solis sparked the second goal by playing a ball through to
Alberto Mendez, who dribbled around the keeper and fired a strike into an open net. The final goal of the match came when
Lupe Martinez blasted a penalty kick, the third goal on a PK this season for the Eagles.
Zorohn Reed registered his second consecutive blank sheet in goal.
"Today was another oustanding team effort," head coach
Rich Nassif said. "We came out with very solid energy to start given the circumstances of a long bus ride and then waiting during the women's match. We played good attacking soccer early and did a good job of managing in the second half. There is a lot of team energy and momentum coming home for two matches this week."
Benedictine (2-6, 2-0) has won back-to-back matches and will look for the first home victory of the season on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. against Concordia Chicago, a team the Eagles faced in the spring.
