LISLE, Ill. - Edgewood College outscored the Benedictine University women's basketball team 35-19 in the second half to streak to a 63-46 win in conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The opening half of play featured four ties and four lead changes. Neither squad was able to lead by more than three points early but Edgewood took the lead at 14-13 with 7:00 to play in the half and never trailed the rest of the way. The visiting Eagles led by as many as six points in the closing moments of the half but by virtue of a pair of free throws from
Alanna Ferry, held just a one-point lead at the break, 28-27.
It took Benedictine over five minutes to score in the second half as Edgewood used a 10-0 run to pull ahead by double figures at 38-27. Benedictine pulled no closer than nine the rest of the way while Edgewood was able to lead by as many as 18 en route to their fifth consecutive victory.
Benedictine shot only 28 percent in the second half and finished the game at 34 percent.
Michelle Gaede led all scorers with 14 points and was the lone player to score in double figures for the host Eagles.
Benedictine (6-9, 4-3) will have three consecutive contests on the road beginning next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Aurora.
