LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team closed out a season sweep of Aurora University by posting a 65-46 win on the road, holding the hosts scoreless for the final 9:53.
The Eagles led by as many as 14 points in the first half but Aurora battled back into the contest. Benedictine was trailing 46-43 with 9:53 left in the game before a 23-0 run to close the contest. The deficit was the first since very early. The run opened with two free throws from
Kam Haifleigh. A pair of free throws from
Morgan Jahnke handed Benedictine the lead at 47-46 with 8:47 left. During the run, 14 points came on free throws. Benedictine finished 21-of-26 from the line in the contest. Haifleigh finished off the run with a three-point play with :34 remaining.
Haifleigh netted 12 points to lead Benedictine.
Alanna Ferry added 10. The Eagles finished +10 on the glass, holding a 38-28 edge.
Benedictine (7-9, 5-3) remains on the road Saturday afternoon with a date at MSOE. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
