MILWAUKEE, Wis. - With a 54-45 road victory at MSOE, the Benedictine University women's basketball team pulled within a game of the .500 mark for the season.
MSOE led by nine points early in the game at 16-7. Benedictine responded with an 11-0 run which began with a
Morgan Jahnke jumper and ended with a layup from
Sierra Dunner. Dunner's layup handed Benedictine a 17-16 lead. MSOE was again able to build the lead up to five points before a 12-1 run by the Eagles closed the half. The run opened with a three from
Lauren Burish and ended with a
Michelle Gaede basket in the final minute of the half. Benedictine held a 29-23 lead at the break.
MSOE netted the first eight points of the second half to retake the lead in the opening five minutes of the frame. Benedictine clamped down on defense for the second consecutive contest and was able to lead by as many as 12 on the way to the win.
The Eagles turned 23 MSOE turnovers into 19 points and held a 39-32 edge on the glass. Benedictine recorded 18 offensive rebounds in the game. Dunner finished as the leading scorer with eight points as the Eagles showcased balance with 12 different individuals scoring. Gaede and
Jillian Lipman added seven apiece.
Benedictine (8-9, 6-3 NAC) will play at Dominican on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
