RIVER FOREST, Ill. - With a 70-50 road win over Dominican University, the Benedictine University women's basketball team earned its seventh conference victory and reached .500 for the first time this season.
Benedictine wasted little time in becoming the aggressor on the road as the Eagles never trailed in the matchup. Benedictine made twice as many first half shots as Dominican and led by as many as 18 points in the half though Dominican scored the final four points of the half to pull within 33-19 at the break.
Dominican pulled within 14 points midway through the second, but Benedictine went on to lead by as many as 23 in the victory. The Eagles held a commanding 42-28 advantage in points in the paint and also converted 27 turnovers into 21 points while holding a 41-30 edge on the glass.
Three players scored in double figured for Benedictine led by 11 from
Meghan Novak.
Kam Haifleigh and
Michelle Gaede added 10 apiece. The Eagles received 33 points from bench players.
Benedictine (9-9, 7-3), at .500 for the first time under second year head coach
Kristen Gillespie, will host the leaders of the South Division, Wisconsin Lutheran, on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Rice Center.
