MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team was edged out 58-54 by Wisconsin Lutheran in a tight road contest on Wednesday night.
The opening 20 minutes of play featured five ties and five lead changes. Wisconsin Lutheran jumped ahead early with an 11-2 run, holding a lead of 11-5. The Warriors quickly moved ahead by eight in the first three minutes of the second half and never trailed the rest of the way, leading by as many as nine. Benedictine was able to claw within two points twice in the final 1:14 when
Tim McGinty hit a pair of jumpers but the hosts hit free throws to finish off the victory.
McGinty led all scorers with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Michael Woolf added 15 points and nine rebounds. Benedictine (3-12, 1-5) returns home to face Edgewood on Saturday afternoon at 4:15 p.m.
