LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team scored early and often on the way to a senior night win over Lakeland College on Saturday night.
Benedictine wasted no time in jumping ahead.
Nikki Jhanji connected on the first of two goals just over a minute into the match. Jhanji put home a feed from
Tara Tarazoff with a header from a cross. Less than a minute later the lead extended to 2-0 as Jhanji returned the favor with a through ball to Tarazoff.
Jhanji struck again in the 27th minute, finishing off a breakaway from
Rachael Hodison. Jhanji, honored before the game, owns 13 goals for the season. Fellow senior
Hayley Gerdes found the back of the net just moments before the half to make it 4-0, taking the ball down the line and finishing. The Eagles held a 14-2 advantage in first half shots.
Hodison tallied the lone goal of the second half, recording a header off of a corner with help from Jhanji and another senior,
Kristina Frampton in the 50th minute. For the match, Benedictine held a 22-7 cumulative advantage in shots.
The Eagles (5-9-2, 3-4-2) stayed alive in the race for the NACC Tournament with the victory. Lake Forest will visit on Wednesday night in a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m.
