Box Score

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Nikki Jhanji netted a hat trick as the Benedictine University women's soccer team recounded from a loss to blank Rockford University 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Jhanji netted her first tally in the fifth minute, banging home a feed from Rachael Hodison. The opening goal was the first of three in the half for Benedictine. Jhanji scored again less than 10 minutes later. Brittany Brewer provided a helper on the second tally. Brewer scored herself in the 33rd minute off a double assist from Katerina Cavaligos and Hodison.

Similar to the start of the contest, Benedictine wasted little time in scoring in the second half. Jackie Elzakhem found the back of the net in the 50th minute, set up by Brewer and Tara Tarazoff. Hodison struck for the lone unassisted tally in the 55th minute to extend the margin to 5-0. Benedictine did a good job of moving the ball and working the offense in the matchup. Jhanji finished off the hat trick in the 60th minute, putting home a pass from Hodison.

The defense allowed Rockford just one shot in the entire contest. Benedictine held a 17-1 edge in shots. Abby Gary played all 90 minutes for the shutout, her second of the season.

Hodison registered three assists in the win while Brewer tallied a pair as Benedictine improved to 4-6-1 with a 2-2-1 mark in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play. The Eagles visit Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.
