LISLE, Ill. - Heading into the final weekend of conference play, the Benedictine University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 non-conference match with Lake Forest College on Wednesday night.
Both teams were able to generate chances with lots of end-to-end action. Lake Forest opened the scoring in the 34th minute on a shot from the top of the box. The goal was the only marker of the first half as Lake Forest held a 9-7 advantage in shots. Benedictine had an opportunity moments before the goal as
Nikki Jhanji was denied in the 33rd minute.
Lake Forest extended the lead to 3-0 with two goals in the second half. Michelle Greeneway scored all three goals for Lake Forest, tallying finders in the 57th and 74th minute. The lone Benedictine goal came on a free kick from 25 yards out by Jhanji in the 83rd minute.
Abby Gary recorded six saves in goal for the Eagles. Lake Forest held a 22-15 lead in shots. Jhanji notched seven for Benedictine.
Benedictine (5-10-2) will host Marian on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
