CHICAGO, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team took a break from conference play on Tuesday but came away with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of North Park University on the road.

The match was tight throughout with Benedictine playing stout defense. A chance in the opening minute for North Park hit the crossbar. North Park was able to open the scoring in the 17th minute on a shot from the center 15 yards out.

Benedictine had an opportunity to tie early in the second half but a Brittany Brewer shot was denied in the 52nd minute. North Park continued to press and added to the lead in the 81st minute with an insurance tally. Tara Tarazoff hit the crossbar in the closing minutes.

Abby Gary played the entire match in goal and kept Benedictine close by making nine saves. North Park peppered the net to the tune of a 29-6 advantage in shots. Brewer registered a pair of shots for the Eagles.

Benedictine (4-8-1) returns to action in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Saturday at MSOE.
