Women's Basketball Falls to Conference Leaders

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team was defeated by conference leading Wisconsin Lutheran on the road Tuesday night, falling 69-42.

Benedictine led only once, at 2-0 following a Michelle Gaede jumper to open the game. Using an 11-2 run, Wisconsin Lutheran moved ahead by seven. The Warriors led by as many as 11 points in the half and held a 30-20 lead at the break.

Vincenza Ranallo scored on a layup to open the second half before the hosts scored six straight to jump up by 14. Already leading by 17, the Warriors used a 10-0 run midway through the second to put the game out of reach, leading 53-26 with 8:30 left.

Ranallo finished with 12 points to lead the Eagles while Briana Hamilton came off the bench to net 10. Benedictine shot under 30 percent for the contest.

Benedictine (11-12, 9-6) is back at home on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. game against Marian as part of Hall of Fame weekend. Just two conference games remain until the conference tournament. Benedictine is still fighting for a first round home game.
