AURORA, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team opened conference play with a 5-0 loss at the hands of nationally ranked preseason favorite, Aurora University.
Aurora, ranked 18th in the nation, dictated play early. The Spartans scored twice in a two minute span less than 10 minutes into the match to take control early. Aurora registered 28 shots in the first half, scoring all five goals from five different individuals.
Abby Gary spent the entire match between the pipes, recording eight saves. Aurora did not score in the second half of the contest, which was delayed for 40 minutes in the first due to lightning. Benedictine was outshot just 5-4 in the second.
Nikki Jhanji recorded three shots including two on goal.
