Beloit, MSOE up Next for Women’s Soccer

This week, the Benedictine University women's soccer team will play one non-conference and one Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game. BenU will host Beloit College on Tuesday and NACC foe Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday.

Benedictine (2-9-1, 1-3) last took the field on Saturday, falling to conference unbeaten Concordia University Wisconsin 5-1. Paige Velez scored the team's only goal of the game, a header off an assist from Danielle Rohling. It was Velez's first goal of the season. In net, Amanda Lozada recorded 12 saves, the most by any player in a match for BenU since August 31, 2013. The Eagles now sit in seventh place in the NACC standings.

Tuesday: vs. Beloit (3-7-1), 7:00 p.m.

BenU hosts the Buccaneers on Tuesday night, who will come to the Village of Lisle/Benedictine University Sports Complex with a 3-7-1 record. Members of the Midwest Conference, Beloit is currently on a five-game losing streak and have been outscored 24-3 in that span.

The Buccaneers have opposed four NACC schools in non-conference play this season: Wisconsin Lutheran College (1-1 tie), Lakeland College (3-2 win in overtime), Concordia University Chicago (12-0 loss), and Edgewood College (loss 3-0). The Eagles and Buccaneers have not matched up since 2008, with the Buccaneers taking the matchup 1-0 in Wisconsin.

Saturday: vs. MSOE (6-4-1, 2-1), 3:30 p.m.

The Eagles host MSOE on Saturday, who currently occupy the spot ahead of the Eagles in the NACC standings. With a 2-1 record, the Raiders sit in sixth place, which is the final qualifying spot for the NACC Tournament. In conference play, MSOE fell to Marian University 4-3 on September 20, but has since delivered shutouts over Concordia-Chicago (3-0 on September 27) and Wisconsin Lutheran (4-0 on October 4). Before facing BenU on Saturday, the Raiders host NACC foe Alverno College on Wednesday night.

MSOE has played the Eagles well in recent seasons, taking four of the last five contests. Benedictine fell to the Raiders by a 5-0 score the past two years, having not scored a goal against the Raiders since 2010. The Eagles defeated the Raiders 1-0 in Milwaukee that season, the team's last victory in the series.
