The Benedictine University women's cross country team opened the season at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Friday night. BenU placed seventh in the event.
BenU was paced by
Julie Carroll, who placed 37th with a time of 17:11.9. Following her was Tatiana Arutro, who placed 41st with a time of 17:19.5.
In addition, four different student-athletes set personal records on Friday night.
Rachel Scianna (17:29.1),
Sherry Gaiser (18:00.4),
Emma Berndt (18:01.6), and
Jasy Jones (20:31.0) all were able to record their best times as an Eagle.
"The women ran a great team race and were able to find each other out on the course, working together very well," said Head Coach
Molly Remley. "This was the strongest early season team performance we've had and it is a testament to the work they put in over the summer."
BenU is back in action on Friday, September 5 at the Aurora University Spartan Classic at 5:45 p.m.
