Box Score WHITTIER, Calif. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team opened the 2014 season with a 4-0 loss in California to Whittier College.

Whittier scored the first goal in the 15th minute of the contest and quickly added two goals in less thatn 30 seconds in the 19th minute to open a 3-0 lead. The Poets capped the scoring in the 47th minute, just after the opening of the second half.

Maddie Frye spent the entire contest in goal for Benedictine, recording eight saves as Whitter held an 18-4 edge in shots. Rachael Hodison collected two of the four shots for the Eagles with one on goal. Danielle Melotte and Jackie Elzakhem also posted shots.

Benedictine (0-1) closes the opening weekend with a Sunday game against the University of La Verne at 7:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
