NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team concluded play at North Central's Sal Vaccaro Tournament by dropping a 1-0 contest to Oberlin.
Both teams had early opportunities but stout defense kept the contest blank until the 36th minute. Oberlin tallied the first goal, which would end up being the only goal. Benedictine controlled the pace early in the second half and had several attempts to tie the score but could not. The Eagles had another late chance but
Jackie Elzakhem's shot in the 89th minute was denied.
The shot totals were near identical for each team with Oberlin holding a slim 8-7 edge. Both teams accumulated five in the second half.
Tara Tarazoff led Benedictine with three attempts, two on target.
Maddie Frye made five saves in net.
