The Benedictine University women's cross country team competed at the National Catholic Championships at the University of Notre Dame on Friday afternoon. BenU placed 16th out of 25 teams in the Non-Division I portion of the event.

Sarah Hussey led the way for the Eagles, placing 70th out of 195 participants with a time for 20:20.26. Five seconds behind her was Julie Carroll, who continued her strong season placing 75th at 20:25.67. Rachel Scianna (112th at 21:09.67) and Tatiana Arturo (126th at 21:29.91) also were able to finish in the event's Top 150.

"The team ran solid in a great environment to race in," explained Head Coach Molly Remley. "They took advantage of a good day to race and worked hard to find each other."

The event, which was held at Notre Dame Golf Course, was won by Seton Hill University. Next up for the women's cross country team is a trip to St. Louis, Missouri, as the team will compete in the Maryville University open on Saturday, September 27. The event is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
