Women's Volleyball Soars Past MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's volleyball team picked up their fourth Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory with a 3-0 sweep of Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday afternoon.

THE FINAL SCORE
• Benedictine 3, MSOE 0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-19)

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine secured an early lead in the first set that was capped with Beckie Whitmarsh and Keriann Groen kills to win 25-18
• Kristina Billie served back-to-back aces to put the Eagles up by nine as BenU soared to a 25-16 second set win
• The Eagles recorded 14 kills and just four errors (.217 hitting percentage) in the third set. MSOE tied the match at 15 but the Eagles broke away on a Billie kill to win 25-19
• BenU hit .207 in both the first and second set with 11 and 10 kills, respectively
• This is BenU's third straight win

STAT LEADERS
• Whitmarsh led all players with 10 kills and Erin Wiegand was right behind her with nine kills
• Kara Epping tallied eight kills and Kelcey Adams had 32 assists and 10 digs
• Billie led all players with 24 digs while freshman Alyssa O'Boyle recorded eight digs
• As a team, BenU out-hit and out-dug MSOE, but the Raiders tallied 7.5 team blocks compared to BenU's three

FROM THE COACH
"That was a big road conference win for us," said head coach Jennifer Wildes. "I thought we served tough and executed when we needed to. We had a great week of practice and a really nice JV win on Wednesday. We want to keep focusing on getting better."

Benedictine, now 9-11 and 4-1 in NACC action, hosts Aurora University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13 in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
