Women's Soccer Ties Clarke

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Benedictine University women's soccer team finished a busy week by battling Clarke University to a 2-2 draw on the road Sunday.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine could not hold a 2-0 lead in the first half
• Taylor Pokorny and Jackie Elzakhem scored less than a minute apart in the first half
• Pokorny poked home a feed from Elzakhem in the 19th minute on the third shot on goal
• Following the ensuing kickoff, Elzakhem connected on a goal off a corner kick from Danielle Rohling less than 30 seconds later
• Clarke found the back of the net in the 26th minute and evened the score in the 51st minute
• Benedictine had several chances to take the lead in the second half but could not score
• Both teams were fairly quiet in overtime as the first 10 minutes produced nothing and the second overtime just a few shots
• Clarke is an NAIA program
• The tie marked the first of the year for Benedictine

STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine held a 17-11 edge in shots and put nine on goal
• 10 different individuals posted shots in the match for Benedictine
• Zoie Holloway led the team with three
• Amanda Lozada played in goal, making two saves
• The contest featured plenty of corner kicks with Benedictine notching nine and Clarke eight
