MSOE Edges Men's Soccer

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision the MSOE on Saturday afternoon in an even contest.

THE DETAILS
• MSOE opened the scoring in the 16th minute
• Gio Ovalle was able to even the score in the 26th minute
• The game-winning goal came in the 60th minute on a penalty kick
• The loss marked the ninth by a single goal this season
• MSOE was labeled as the preseason favorite in the NACC

FROM THE COACH
"Today was a quality, hard fought match from both sides," head coach Rich Nassif said. "No games are easy in the NACC, but there was quality soccer being played by both teams. MSOE has two of the best attacking players in the region and we allowed them too many opportunities in our defensive third. I thought we turned in a really strong first half responding to an early deficit. Our equalizer set the stage for a very positive finish where we had our chances to grab the lead going into half. Those opportunities slipped away and MSOE were simply the better team in the second half."
