Women's Soccer Season Ends at Aurora

AURORA, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer season ended in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 2-1 loss in double overtime at Aurora University.

THE DETAILS
•
Aurora scored with just 14 seconds left in the second overtime to end Benedictine's season
• Aurora opened a 1-0 lead early in the game, scoring in the sixth minute
• Benedictine evened the game in the 20th minute on a goal from Taylor Pokorny, assisted by Jackie Elzakhem
• Both teams had shots in the final minute of regulation to potentially win
• During the second overtime session, Benedictine logged three shots in a span of less than a minute but could not score
• Benedictine did not win an overtime match this season, finishing with a record of 0-3-1 in such contests
• Benedictine posted a mark of 3-6 in one-goal decisions this season
• Benedictine was appearing in the NACC Tournament for just the third time in program history and the first since 2007
• Aurora, the fourth seed, posted a 3-1 win over Benedictine during the regular season and has won six straight conference titles

"This was a heartbreaking loss for the group," head coach Mike Boland said. "Waves of momentum for each team dictated the pace of the game. Our team has nothing to be ashamed of as we battled thoughout the game, and took some nice strides as a program this year. This group set a new standard for Benedictine women's soccer and we can't wait to build upon it. We have to thank our five outstanding seniors, Keelin Valenti, Morgan Spiegel, Allison Lambert, Danielle Rohling, and Jackie Elzakhem. They have led this program to new heights."

• Four individuals posted a pair of shots in the defeat with Elzakhem, Sydney White, Daniela Nieto, and Danielle Melotte posting two apiece
