The Benedictine University competed in the Titan Invite at Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. BenU placed ninth in the event.
"The team continues to impress me, as they are improving every week," said Director of Track and Field
Kevin Paterson. "Our marks improved in several events from last week to this week."
The throwers led the way for Benedictine, and placing second in the weight throw at 15.75m was
Megan Malone. The weight throw mark places her in the Top 20 of NCAA Division III athletes. In addition, Malone was also strong in the shot put, placing fourth at 12.29m.
For the second straight meet,
Brittany Holst set a school record in the pole vault. On Saturday, she tied for second with a 3.35m mark.
On the track, Benedictine stood out in the 3000m, as
Tatiana Arturo (ninth, 11:32.85),
Rachel Scianna (11th, 11:48.85), and
Elizabeth Deely (12th, 11:48.99) all placed well in the event. Arturo and Scianna, along with
Hayley Reagin and
Sabina Bukowska, also made up the winning 4x400 relay team, which came in at 3:53.04.
The Eagles will compete next on February 7 in the ONU Quad at Olivet Nazarene University.
