The Benedictine University women's track and field team officially opened the outdoor season on Saturday. A limited number of student-athletes made the trip to Galesburg, resulting in a tie for 15th place.
Just the distance runners competed for the Eagles on Saturday. The group was led by
Tatiana Arturo, who set a personal record in the 5000m at 19:49.07 (ninth place). She was followed by
Rachel Scianna (12th, 20:40.37),
Sabina Bukowska (15th, 22:06.85), and
Hayley Reagin (16th, 22:31.69).
"We traveled a small group today, and the majority of our team will open up at Wheaton on Thursday," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Kevin Paterson. "
Tatiana Arturo led a strong showing in the 5000m with a new personal best. I'm excited for some warm weather and fast times ahead."
The Eagles will compete next at Wheaton College on Thursday.
