Distance Runners Compete Saturday for Women’s Track and Field

The Benedictine University women's track and field team officially opened the outdoor season on Saturday. A limited number of student-athletes made the trip to Galesburg, resulting in a tie for 15th place.

Just the distance runners competed for the Eagles on Saturday. The group was led by Tatiana Arturo, who set a personal record in the 5000m at 19:49.07 (ninth place). She was followed by Rachel Scianna (12th, 20:40.37), Sabina Bukowska (15th, 22:06.85), and Hayley Reagin (16th, 22:31.69).

"We traveled a small group today, and the majority of our team will open up at Wheaton on Thursday," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Kevin Paterson. "Tatiana Arturo led a strong showing in the 5000m with a new personal best. I'm excited for some warm weather and fast times ahead."

The Eagles will compete next at Wheaton College on Thursday.
