The Benedictine University women's track and field team competed at Wheaton Invitational at Wheaton College on Wednesday and Thursday. BenU placed ninth in the meet.

Megan Malone returned to action after just a limited group competed for the Eagles last week. The junior thrower led the way for BenU in the field events, placing second in the hammer throw (48.91m), fifth in the shot put (11.84m), and sixth in the discus (36.20m).
Lauren Burish also performed well in the throws, finishing eighth in the discus (34.67m) and 11th in the hammer (35.29m).

On the track, BenU performed well in the distance runs. In the 1500m, three Eagles put together great efforts, as
Julie Carroll (eighth, 5:13.96),
Tatiana Arturo (14th, 5:20.91), and
Rachel Scianna (18th, 5:23.61) all placed in the event's top 20. Carroll also performed well in the 800m, placing 15th at 2:35.23.

"The ladies had a nice meet and laid a nice foundation for a great season," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Kevin Paterson. "We continue to have great workouts, and I am really excited for the weeks to come."

The Eagles are back in action on Thursday and Friday at College of DuPage for the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships. Events begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday and 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
