The Benedictine University women's volleyball team defeated Lake Forest College in straight sets to end the annual Red and Black Triangular. In the first match, the Eagles fell to North Central College.
Against Lake Forest (3-9) the Eagles tallied 32 kills and 49 digs en route to a three-set win to bring their record to over .500 (6-5). Benedictine did not let LFC score more than 20 points in all three sets (25-17, 25-16, 25-20).
Beckie Whitmarsh led all players with a season high 10 kills.
Kara Epping had eight digs while
Erin Wiegand had six kills.
Kelcey Adams tallied 25 assists, 11 digs and two aces while
Kristina Billie had 11 digs.
In the first match, North Central (11-2) took a commanding 17-4 first set lead, tallying 16 kills en route to a 25-10 win. Benedictine (5-6) trailed early in the second set but went on a 12-5 run that tied the set at 20. The Cardinals offense was too much as they went on to win 25-2.
In the third set, the Eagles had seven hitting errors and trailed 7-16. Benedictine would just reach double-digits as NCC won 25-10.
Epping led BenU with six kills while Wiegand registered five kills. Adams had 18 assists while Billie tied for a game high 13 digs.
Benedictine returns to action on Wednesday, September 23 when they travel to North Park University for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
