LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's soccer team capped the home portion of the season with a 5-0 shutout of visiting Marian University on senior day.

THE DETAILS
• The start of the contest played very even
• Marian hit the crossbar and was then denied by
Cassidy Henson eight minutes into the game
• Taylor Pokorny opened the scoring with just over 10 minutes left in the first half, changing directions in the box
• Pokorny struck again quickly, scoring in the 41st minute by heading home a corner from
Danielle Melotte
• Benedictine took control in the second half
• Ashley Steadman took a quick pass from Pokorny and scored 13 minutes into the second
• Abbie Graham and Melotte added goals to finish the scoring
• The shutout marked the sixth of the season for Benedictine
• The victory officially put Benedictine back in the conference tournament for the second consecutive year

Mike Boland. "We thank them for all they have contributed to this program. We talked all this week about winning on senior day for them, and the team responded to give them that memory. For the game, our execution in the final third was great, as the scoreboard showed. We'll now enjoy this one, then prepare and embrace our game this Wednesday at Dominican, to see where we finish out in the conference standings as we prepare for post-season play."

• Pokorny posted six shots with Graham notching four

UP NEXT
Benedictine concludes the regular season on Wednesday afternoon at Dominican. A win could make Benedictine the third seed and would secure a home game in the conference tournament.
