Women's Soccer Season Ends in Semifinal


MILWAUKEE, WI - The Benedictine University women's soccer team saw their season come to an end in a wet NACC Tournament semifinal loss at MSOE.

• Benedictine created many chances but could not find the back of the net in falling to the top seed and NACC Champion
• MSOE saw seven corner kicks in the first 13 minutes but managed just two shots
• Holly Ward put a shot on goal in the 18th minute but could not score
• The first goal of the contest came late in the half in the 37th minute
• A long diagonal ball was one-touched past Cassidy Henson in net
• Benedictine also trailed 1-0 at halftime in the regular season meeting
• MSOE produced nine first half corner kicks but held just a 7-4 advantage in shots
• Megan Anderson and Sammie Sarles created chances to tie the match in the first 10 minutes of the second, but both shots on goal were denied
• Henson came up with a save in the 66th minute but a rebound resulted in the second goal
• Benedictine did not relent, stringing together three shots including two on goal as Abbie Graham and Ward were denied in the 69th and 71st minute
• Miki Winkler subbed on and fired a shot on goal in the 77th minute but again came up empty
• The sealing goal for MSOE came on a corner kick in the 88th minute
• Taylor Pokorny drove a header in the closing moments but missed high following a corner kick
• Benedictine finished the season with a record of 6-13-1 and claimed the first ever NACC Tournament win

• MSOE finished with a 16-12 advantage in shots
• The margin was just one at 9-8 in the second half
• Seven of the Benedictine attempts were on goal
• Eight different individuals posted shots in the match
• Just Graham, with four, and Ward, with two, managed more than one shot
• Henson finished with six saves in net
