LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's soccer team kicked off conference play with a shutout of Concordia University Chicago to claim the first win of the season.

• Neither team was able to score in the opening 45 minutes of action
• The pace of play was slowed down with much of the contest taking place in the midfield
• The first half saw just eight total shots and none on goal from either side with several near misses
• Benedictine broke through early in the second half
• Taylor Pokorny put an early shot on goal and followed suit in the 57th minute by netting the first goal of the match
• Megan Anderson added to the lead in the 65th minute, driving home a feed from
Kayleigh Sommer following a free kick
• Concordia Chicago never put a ball on target, struggling to get past the Benedictine back line
• Benedictine held a 9-7 advantage in shots, putting three on goal
• Both teams finished with four shots in the second half
• Pokorny finished with three shots while
Holly Ward and
Stephanie Nichols each posted two in a reserve role
