Tyler Jarnagin surpassed 500 yards passing for the third time in his career, completing 25 passes for 502 yards while throwing a career best seven touchdowns to equal the school record as the Benedictine University football team piled up 599 yards in a 48-26 victory over Loras in the home opener on Saturday night.
Jarnagin connected with
Sami Ayash on the first two drive of the game for touchdowns of 59 and 45 yards ans opened the second with a 33-yard score to
Nathan Rillo as Benedictine led 20-0. The score was 34-6 at the half. Loras scored three unanswered touchdowns to open the second half, pulling within 34-26 before Jarnagin found
Deandre Holliday on a 30-yard score to help put the game out of reach.
Three receivers amassed over 100 yards as Ayash, Holliday and Rillo all caught seven passes.
Blake Davis recovered a fumble, recorded an interception, broke up a pass and made seven stops.
Brian Pritt posted 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.
Benedictine (2-0) opens conference play next week at home against Concordia Wisconsin.
